Description

The Focke-Wulf Fw 200 Condor was a four engine monoplane developed by Focke- Wulf as a commercial airliner prior to WW2. A Japanese request for a military version led to the development of a long range reconnaissance and anti shipping bomber, it was also used a transport variant by the Luftwaffe during WW2 most notable by Adolf Hitler who had a Condor especially converted for his personal use. The Condor achieved considerable success as a commerce raider and was dubbed ‘the scourge of the Atlantic’ by Churchill. However by late 1941 its effectiveness was being curtailed by RAF Coastal Command aircraft and the Hurricane fighters being flown from CAM ships.
